The worst thing I've ever done is...
Back in high school I walked into a class where a group of mates had gathered, looking at me excitedly. They were chattering like birds, "he'll do it" being one of the remembered quotes. Five minutes later I was carrying out their plan, donated phone in hand, dialling the parents of some girl in our year. In the most distorted voice I could muster without losing the laughter, I said:
"She wants to keep the baby"
Thinking nothing of it, I put the phone down and promptly forgot about it. The next day I found out that they had heard perfectly well what I said, and unfortunately for this girl, she -was- actually pregnant and they -did- look through all her belongings and -did- find a positive pregnancy test and then -did- force her to have an abortion.
The only time I've ever felt guilty is when I had to tell her I did it for a laugh rather than out of malice and that it wasn't my idea, I was just a voice. Probably saved her life that day.
But the best thing I've ever done is...
I don't think I've done many really good things in my life, I just try to do few bad things. I haven't saved anyone's life, I rarely give to charity, but I'm not bigoted and believe everyone's born equal. If they're born at all... |
